Join us for a special evening celebrating the incredible legacy of David Raven AKA Maisie with a screening of the award-winning documentary Maisie, presented with kind permission from producer Lee Cooper. The event will be hosted by the fabulous Lola Lasagne, who will also grace us with a special performance later in the evening.
About the Film
Maisie is an intimate and award-winning documentary that follows the countdown to David/Maisie’s 85th birthday, offering a touching portrait of ageing, artistry, and friendship. The film also features Miss Jason, a close friend of Maisie’s and a beloved performer taken from us too soon.
Honoring a Legend
David Raven, known to many as Maisie, passed away on 11th March 2025, leaving behind a powerful legacy and a void that can never be filled. From performing in secret gay bars as part of the legendary Trollettes during a time when being gay was illegal, to a decades-spanning solo career in drag and theatre, David’s contribution to the scene is immeasurable.
Maisie was more than a persona—it was an artistic creation that David poured his soul into, treating his drag performances with the same reverence as any theatrical role. At a time when drag was often dismissed as novelty, David stood firm as an artist, paving the way for generations to come. (And for the record—God help you if you ever called David “Maisie” out of costume!)
Supporting a Cause
All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to The Beacon in Brighton, a charity close to Maisie’s heart that supported both Maisie’s partner and Miss Jason during their lives.
